Out of State Residents

If you are pulled over for DUI or DWI in Nevada, with a driver’s license issued in another state, driving privileges in your home state may still be revoked.

If you took a breathalyzer test, you can request a hearing from the DMV, but must do so within seven days. Nevada DMV authorities will have a hold on your license in your home state placed. Unless you and your Nevada DUI attorney request a hearing, your out-of-state license will be suspended. If you request a hearing, however, you will still be able to drive until a conclusion has been reached and the judge deciding your case has chosen to remove or enforce suspension of privileges.

If you took a blood test, it will take roughly a month for your results to return. After the results have been ascertained, the DMV will inform you that your license will be suspended for 90 days within Nevada. The Nevada DMV will contact the DMV in your home state and inform them about this, and a hold on your license will be placed in your home state as well. Once you have been notified, you must ask for a hearing at the Nevada DMV. The request allows you to drive until your hearing is completed, and a decision has been reached regarding your driving privileges within Nevada.
